El Informe mundial de la OMS sobre prevenci\u00f3n y control de infecciones (PCI) ofrece un an\u00e1lisis de la situaci\u00f3n mundial sobre c\u00f3mo se est\u00e1n implementando los programas de PCI en pa\u00edses de todo el mundo, seg\u00fan la evidencia de la literatura cient\u00edfica y de diversos informes, y nuevos datos de estudios de la OMS. Tambi\u00e9n destaca el da\u00f1o que causan a los pacientes y al personal de salud las infecciones asociadas a la atenci\u00f3n de salud y la resistencia a los antimicrobianos, aborda el impacto y la relaci\u00f3n costo-eficacia de los programas de PCI y las estrategias y recursos disponibles para que los pa\u00edses los mejoren. Este documento est\u00e1 dirigido principalmente a los encargados de tomar decisiones y formular pol\u00edticas en el campo de la PCI a nivel nacional, subnacional y de los centros de salud.<\/p>\n
