Public Health Surveillance for Cholera: Interim Guidance

Author: Global Task Force on Cholera Control

This GTFCC guidance provides interim recommendations for strengthening public health surveillance for cholera, superseding guidance published in 2017. It includes recommendations on definitions of “case” and “outbreak”; testing, including expanding the use of Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDT); and the minimum data to be collected on suspected cholera cases. The updated guidance aims “to better inform timely and targeted multisectoral interventions to limit the spread of cholera and reduce morbidity and mortality.”
