Viral Haemorrhagic Fever: Marburg Virus Disease Health Emergency Supply Note

Author: United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF)

This guidance provides an updated list of available supplies for the emergency response to any outbreak of Marburg virus disease (MVD). It includes supplies for infection prevention and control (IPC) including personal protective equipment (PPE) for standard and contact precautions against viral haemorrhagic disease; medical clothing and specific disinfectants; temperature monitoring devices; and waste management. It also makes provisions for medical and supportive care for suspected or confirmed individuals. Early detection, isolation, and case management are currently the most effective interventions. UNICEF provides details on how UNICEF country offices, governments, and partners can procure emergency supplies through UNICEF.
